About Us
SPOT for Social Change is a mission-driven civil society organization committed to strengthening equitable economic, social and institutional systems for youth and women.
We focus on bridging the gap between localized community needs and practical, scalable solutions that generate lasting social impact.
Our work is defined by combining rigorous community engagement, evidence-based research, and knowledge transfer to co-design and scale inclusive social innovation.
Through strategic collaboration with communities, civil society organizations, and development actors, we build capacity, amplify local agency, and directly contribute to sustainable poverty alleviation and reduced social inequalities.
Our Vision
Equitable and just societies where youth, women, local actors and institutions have the capacity, resources, and agency to lead positive and sustainable social transformation.
Our Mission
To partner with youth, women and organisations to amplify their impact and drive systemic change for just and equitable societies. Through co-design and scaling of social innovation, we advance sustainable, inclusive social transformation led by those most affected.
Our Values
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
We embrace diversity and inclusion, and we appreciate differences as a source of humanitarian innovation and social solutions, continually learning and adapting to support these principles.
Human-Centered
We work in partnership with individuals and communities, recognizing their agency, knowledge, and priorities. We place people at the centre of our work and create conditions that allow them to shape solutions, make decisions, and pursue the lives they value.
Courage
We stand up for what we believe in, with conviction & courage. We have a goal, and we are driven towards it, we strive to be creative and innovative in finding solutions, and constantly learning from the daily stories we encounter, from our supporters and partners.
Accountability & Integrity
We hold ourselves accountable for our action & inaction; we are responsible for our words, actions, & results. We are accountable to each other, to the mission, to our donors, members, partners, & to the public.
"These are difficult times. Everything feels unstable. But SPOT does the work that reminds us we aren't forgotten. Connecting someone to an opportunity, helping a family through a health crisis, just being there. They provide practical help, but what matters most is the hope. The belief that things can get better. They are true friends to this neighborhood."

"Before Green Bean, I had the skill but nowhere to start. Being a single mother, every day was a worry. They didn't just let me use a kitchen; they gave me a business space. Now I produce my Lebanese mouneh and sell it myself. SPOT helped me turn what I learned from my mother into my livelihood."

"Cooking was always what I did best, but only at home, only for family. Green Bean hired me to take fresh produce and turn it into daily meals for the neighborhood. I cook what I love, people buy it at a fair price, and I bring home a stable income. They saw my skill and trusted me with it. That trust changed everything."

"Last summer, the apricots were ripe and I was fighting cancer. Too weak to do anything. My entire year's income was hanging on those branches. I was ready to lose everything. SPOT sent the Green Bean team to harvest, took the crop to market, and brought me every penny. They saved my harvest, yes. But more than that, they gave me one less fight when I had no strength left."

Ethos
In Action
SPOT is more than an acronym. It defines how we work. Our ethos reflects the integrated approach at the heart of our theory of change: recognizing that sustainable transformation requires addressing economic exclusion, psychosocial distress, weakened social fabric, and barriers to voice and governance together, not in isolation.
We Support by building human, social, and financial capital alongside communities rather than delivering services to them.
We Protect by ensuring that participation itself does not expose people to harm, embedding safeguarding and conflict sensitivity into everything we do.
We help people Overcome both structural barriers like limited market access and discrimination, and internal constraints like eroded confidence and coping capacity that crises have compounded. And we work to Transform systems by ensuring women and youth are not just recipients of change but the architects of it, leading peacebuilding, shaping governance, and driving the solutions that matter in their own lives.
These four commitments are mutually reinforcing: economic stability creates space for wellbeing, wellbeing enables participation, participation builds safer communities, and safer communities sustain livelihoods. This is the cycle of change we work to set in motion.
What We Do
SPOT works directly with women and youth in Lebanon through four interconnected programmatic pillars.
These aren't isolated interventions.
They're designed to reinforce each other: economic stability reduces household stress and creates space for engagement; psychosocial wellbeing enables sustained participation; community safety opens pathways for economic activity; and civic voice strengthens accountability for services that support livelihoods and protection.
Progress in one area accelerates progress in the others.
Economic Agency
Women and youth face structural barriers to employment, enterprise, and financial inclusion.
We provide market-relevant skills training, financial literacy, access to savings mechanisms, coaching, and connections to employment or self-employment pathways.
Our approach is grounded in market and value chain assessments that identify viable sectors and realistic opportunities.
Participants don't just receive training; they build assets, generate income, and participate meaningfully in market systems.
For those on graduation pathways out of poverty, we integrate shock-responsive elements to protect gains against the crises and volatility that characterize Lebanon's context.
Psychosocial Wellbeing
Prolonged exposure to crisis, displacement, and economic uncertainty has eroded mental health and coping capacity across Lebanese communities.
We provide community-based psychosocial support, structured group interventions, peer networks, and pathways to specialized services for those who need them.
Our focus is on restoring functioning: strengthening coping mechanisms, rebuilding social support systems, and developing skills to manage stress and adversity.
Wellbeing is not a standalone outcome but a foundation that enables participation in economic, social, and civic life.
Women and Youth as Peace Leaders
Resource scarcity, displacement, and competition for services have intensified tensions between communities.
We equip women and youth with skills in communication, dialogue, negotiation, and mediation.
We support their participation in community engagement platforms where they can bridge differences, address shared concerns, and lead action that prevents tensions and builds trust across dividing lines.
The goal is not just individual skill-building but community-level change: safer environments where diversity is managed constructively.
Women and Youth as Changemakers
Discriminatory norms, weak institutions, and restricted civic space have excluded women and youth from decisions that affect their lives.
We provide civic education, advocacy training, and supported pathways to engage with local governance structures.
Participants develop civic literacy, confidence, and skills to articulate priorities and engage with public institutions.
They move from being recipients of services to actors who influence local priorities, hold institutions accountable, and shape the systems that affect their communities.

Where We Started
Between 2020 and 2025, SPOT reached over 4,000 individuals in Lebanon's Bekaa region through Green Bean, a community-based social enterprise, and continued direct humanitarian support.
What began as a response to compounding crises became a testing ground for SPOT's integrated approach: combining economic activity with social support, prioritizing dignity over charity, and building community trust through consistent presence.
We supported 15 local farmers through direct purchasing, provided market access for 11 women producers, created cash-for-work opportunities for 42 women and youth, and delivered food assistance, health cost support, and emergency aid to families facing acute hardship. The lessons from this founding period shape everything we do now.
